What our Community Baby! sessions offer...
We’ll spend time on the floor with babies, simply being with, attending to, and supporting their basic movements and needs. Whether baby is sleeping, crying, laying there, playing, rolling, crawling, or on their way to walking, we’ll provide the basic attentive environment for their learning! Please dress your baby in a way that allows for ease of movement and so that their feet and forearms are exposed.
Community Baby! classes offer opportunities to observe how much is already happening with a baby. Space to ask questions about a baby’s process, and how to support them. A chance to be supported in making choices that value the many different ways that infant movement development can unfold, and that value the relationships between caregivers and infants. These sessions are open to babies from birth to walking, and multiple caregivers are welcome. We encourage parents and caregivers to get down on the floor with the babies, so it would be great if you wear clothes comfortable for moving around.
In 2022 Theresa graduated from The School of Body-Mind Centering's ® Infant Developmental Movement Education. She is an IDME (Infant Developmental Movement Educator) and therefore an expert on the natural development of human babies from birth to walking. Theresa is well studied in developmental movements & developmental theory, including the primitive reflexes, righting reactions, and equilibrium responses of humans. IDMEs work alongside caregivers and their babies to support the natural and full progression of their relationship in the context of baby's growth.
As an IDME Theresa is interested in where the ancient wisdom of human evolution and DNA meets the discoveries and innovations of science, to potentiate their learning, self-regulation skills, and growth of babies by supporting the relationship between baby and caregiver. Together with the caregiver she will attend to the baby's movement, support their development and learning, so they have a better chance at competency, coordination, and integrated presence as they grow. In this, IDME work comes from the basic perspective that as adults, we are a baby's environment. How we are being is as important as what we are (or are not) doing.
Come & build community, baby!
We ask caregivers who come to Community Baby! with babies
to familiarize themselves prior to sessions and follow these guidelines.
