The Year of Study

Studying Yoga Beyond Asana

The Year of Study is a year-long learning experience offered through the River & Stone Yoga Institute (RSYI). It’s designed for students who love workshops and are craving more continuity, depth, and space to integrate yoga beyond the mat.

This is an invitation into sustained study, a steady arc of learning held with care, intention, and community.

An Intentional Year of Learning

The Year of Study unfolds through 11 monthly workshops across the year. Each workshop explores a specific theme within yoga beyond physical practice, and together they form a cohesive arc of study that builds over time.

Each month includes:

  • A themed workshop
  • A related reading circle or discussion
  • Space for reflection, inquiry, and integration

Workshops are designed to stand on their own, while also contributing to a larger, connected learning journey.

Across the year, learning weaves through four interconnected Schools of Study.

How the Year of Study Works

Learning in Sangha

Study in the Year of Study is held within sangha, a community of shared learning and mutual support.

Rather than isolated workshops, this offering creates space for:

  • Ongoing conversation and reflection
  • Relationship-based learning
  • Accountability and continuity
  • Returning to practice and inquiry again and again

This container is designed to support learning that unfolds over time, not just information delivered in a single day.

How Participation Works

Participants may choose to:

  • Join the Year of Study Circle, committing to all 11 workshops across the year
  • Attend individual workshops as drop-ins

Both options are welcome.

Workshops are offered in-studio and virtually, making the Year of Study accessible to both local and remote participants.

Continuing Education

All workshops in the Year of Study qualify for Yoga Alliance Continuing Education (YACEP) hours.

This means participants can:

  • Deepen their personal practice
  • Study yoga beyond asana in community
  • Earn CE hours with integrity

Support & Mentorship

The Year of Study is supported by a team of experienced teachers and facilitators.

Participants in the Year of Study Circle receive additional layers of support, including:

  • A dedicated study mentor
  • Regular check-ins and guidance
  • A facilitated book club aligned with monthly themes

This support is woven throughout the year to help learning feel steady, integrated, and sustainable.

The Arc of the Year

Across the months, the Year of Study follows a gentle rhythm of:

  • Exploration
  • Reflection
  • Integration
  • Return

Rather than rushing from topic to topic, the year allows space to stay with questions, revisit themes, and notice how learning shows up in real life.
